You Make It Happen!

Dear Friends,

When I ask people what they value most about the Healthy Building Network, nearly everyone says: your integrity and independence. That is the foundation of all of the work we do and all of the successes we've had since we began in the year 2000. That independent foundation has been built with funding from philanthropic organizations and individuals that support us with tax-deductible contributions each year. You make it happen!

We are a not-for-profit organization that accepts no financial support from product manufacturers. We make our information widely available at low or no cost. We depend upon those who value the information we provide to support us at whatever level is right for their circumstances.

If you value this newsletter and the blogs published by my colleagues in The Signal, consider a subscription-level contribution of $10 per month to keep the information flowing!

Or, consider the value of our cutting edge research and reports. I've just returned from New York City where last week we released a groundbreaking new report on chemicals in building materials that can cause asthma. Earlier this year we were the first to investigate claims of building products that are said to remove harmful pollutants from the air. Your support underwrites these timely, unbiased investigations.

Our Pharos Project pioneered the analysis of health hazards based upon full disclosure of building product content information, ushering in an industry-wide push for product transparency. Your support allows us to continue expanding our Pharos library and resources while keeping subscription costs low.

HBN conceived of the Health Product Declaration (HPD), and together with BuildingGreen, convened the industry working group that has made it the industry standard for communicating building product contents and related chemical hazards information. I continue to serve on the Board of Directors of the HPD Collaborative, and HBN's Policy Director Tom Lent is a key member of the Collaborative's Technical Committee. Your support allows us to continue serving in these critical volunteer positions.

Every contribution is valued, and helps us to continue these important leadership initiatives. Thank you to our many supporters who have already renewed their annual gift to HBN this year!

Your tax-deductible contribution to the Healthy Building Network will ensure that there are strong, independent resources for evaluating building products – today, tomorrow and far into the future. You can donate online or send a check to Healthy Building Network, 2001 S Street, NW, Suite 570, Washington, DC 20009.

Thank you for your support, and of course please follow us throughout the year at www.healthybuilding.net and www.pharosproject.net, on Facebook, and on Twitter (@HBNKnowBetter).

Sincerely,

Bill Walsh & the HBN Team
