Healthy Building Network (HBN) hired two staff in the first quarter of 2018, to bolster internal capacity, expand programmatic expertise, and drive future growth: Biftu Takele, Executive Assistant, and William Weber, Collective Impact Director. As part of our continued evolution, HBN is also currently seeking applicants for a new key leadership role at the organization, Chief Research Officer. (Details below.)
Biftu Takele was hired as Executive Assistant. Before joining HBN, Takele worked for two years as Nonprofit Services Assistant at the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits (MCN), where she executed a range of duties including member and audience engagement, recruitment and retention, and database maintenance. She serves on the boards of both the Young Nonprofit Professionals Network of the Twin Cities and the Friends of Africa Education, and as a member of the MCN’s Inclusion & Equity Committee. Takele has a BA in International Studies and Political Science from Macalester College. She will provide support to HBN’s leadership team and support the Board of Directors. William Weber was hired as Collective Impact Director (CID), a newly created position in HBN’s staff structure. Prior to HBN, Weber served in multiple roles over a nearly 20-year stint at the University of Minnesota, including as Senior Research Fellow at the Center for Sustainable Building Research and Lecturer at the School of Architecture. Weber’s work focuses on the integration of sustainability and architecture through applied research, exploring and developing tools to evaluate and compare what are often disparate aesthetic, economic, and environmental goals. A widely sought and accomplished speaker, technical advisor, and facilitator on innovative projects regionally and nationally, he was the primary investigator and project manager of the Minnesota Sustainable Housing Initiative, a McKnight Foundation-funded knowledge base of tools and case studies to advance sustainability in affordable housing. Weber has both a BA and MA in Architecture from the University of a Minnesota. In his new role, he will oversee the leadership and design of HBN’s communities of practice and educational activities, with a focus on the HomeFree Affordable Housing initiative. William Weber is located in the Twin Cities, MN.
